Welcome to The Passionate Stewardship Box

Hey Now,

I'm Dr. Cherie, a resistor of burnout and grind culture, a Radical Self-care Advocate, and an Enthusiastic. Welcome to the Passionate Stewardship Box!!! I am thrilled that you are here. Before you get to side-eyeing me, yes, I am an actual doctor, not in the medical professional sense, but, like my friends like to say, in the smarty-pants sense. I have a Ph.D. in Human Services, specializing in Multidisciplinary Human Services.

I have worked with a wide range of people over the past 30 years, including sex workers, returning citizens, and victims of unspeakable traumas. One thing has become increasingly apparent throughout this time: this work profoundly impacts your entire being. Human services professionals and social workers are truly ROCKSTARS! However, I have also realized how much burnout can affect those of us who do this work.

It is crucial to take care of all aspects of ourselves, whether we are stay-at-home parents who homeschool our children or human service professionals and social workers who take care of clients who have experienced traumatic events with our clients and then go home to care for our families. Radical self-care involves a comprehensive approach to caring for oneself physically, mentally, emotionally, socially, professionally, and spiritually. While typical self-care involves practical tasks such as exercise, proper nutrition, and rest, pampering adds an essential element that caters to emotional and psychological needs.

Here's why the pampering side of self-care is essential within the context of radical self-care:

  1. Emotional Well-being: Pampering activities, such as long baths, massages, and hobbies, can provide immediate emotional relief. They offer moments of relaxation and pleasure, helping to alleviate stress, anxiety, and tension. Try our Bubbling Bath Salts paired with a Radical Rest Candle or one of our Shower Steamers paired with a matching Candle!
  2. Self-Worth and Self-Value: Indulging in self-care activities like pampering sends a positive message to oneself that they are worthy of care and attention. This can be particularly important for people struggling with low self-esteem or unworthiness. Pampering oneself reinforces the idea that one deserves to be treated well, vital to building self-esteem and self-confidence. Try one of our Candles and take a quiet moment for yourself!
  3. Self-Compassion: Pampering activities promote self-compassion by allowing individuals to be kind and gentle with themselves, which is particularly valuable in counteracting self-criticism and self-judgment.
  4. Coping Mechanism: Pampering can be a healthy way to cope with difficult emotions or situations instead of resorting to unhealthy habits or behaviors. It can provide comfort and self-soothing.
  5. Connection with Self: Self-care allows individuals to connect with their inner selves, understand their needs and desires, and foster self-awareness.
  6. Balance: Radical self-care involves balancing work, relaxation, productivity, and leisure activities. By incorporating pleasurable activities, self-care includes more than just practical tasks.
  7. Prevent Burnout: Pampering activities can prevent burnout by providing respite, rejuvenation, and renewal to replenish physical, mental, and emotional energy reserves.

Self-care involves pampering and nurturing oneself, promoting self-love, self-compassion, and self-acceptance. It adds depth and richness to radical self-care, making it more fulfilling and sustainable. Our products support cultivating a beautiful environment that allows you to have a moment for yourself—a moment of pampering and a moment to focus on the most critical person in this world!

XO

Dr. Cherie
